Alexander Zesati, LMFT

The approach to psychotherapy I offer has been deeply shaped by my practice of Eastern traditions (Buddhist and yogic) in conjunction with contemporary Western psychology, shamanic and psychedelic exploration. I honor all wisdom paths. This year marks twenty eight years of experience in the field of counseling and transformational work. I am committed to supporting individuals and couples work through intimacy barriers, emotional distress and trauma. All of which are portals towards deeper fulfillment and authentic self expression.

My therapeutic orientation is informed by the intersection of mindfulness, relational and somatically based approaches. For the last seven years I have taken a plunge into the depths of Jungian psychology. However, my ongoing source of growth and training is in the ‘trenches’ in my role as husband and father of teenage twins, which provides me with a daily portion of delight and humble pie.

My academic training began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Then, I earned a Masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. I hold a Marriage and Family Therapy License and am fully bilingual (Spanish) & bi-cultural. I was born and raised in Mexico City and have lived in the U.S. for thirty two years.

Also, I completed level III of the hakomi method, which is a body-mind approach of assisted self discovery. I am trained in EMDR, which I have successfully used to release trauma and anxiety. I am also trained in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy). And in 2021 I completed the MAPS training in MDMA assisted therapy. I currently offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) in collaboration with Journey Clinical.
